The Backland Expert is a high-quality ski touring boot, which is positioned directly below the Backland Pro. It weighs approximately the same (just 70 grams heavier, i.e., 1,173 grams heavier, for a size 26/26.5) and costs less, but offers slightly less responsiveness on descents.
What is the programme of the Atomic Backland Expert ski boot?
The Backland Expert is a great ski touring boot that will revolutionize your ascents. Its ski/walk system, the Free/Lock 4.0 offers 74° of travel which allows you to have an ultra-natural stride and therefore a better efficiency. Combined with a weight of just over 1 kg per foot, you can ski tour without getting tired! It enables fun during descents, with a stiffness that is roughly equivalent to a 90 flex on an alpine boot, a boa clamp and a 98 mm toe box that enables precision, and a 30 mm strap that allows for a little more tibia return. Last but not least, it is comfortable, with a 3D Gold liner with a breathable and washable shape memory.
