Life is far from wonderful if you live next door to Melvin Udall. Melvin is a rascal who tells people carefully considered nasty things about their skin color, nationality and gender. When a gay artist and his dog live on the same floor, this poor guy naturally falls into the teeth of the creepy Melvin.
Despite everything, somewhere under Melvin's hairy chest beats a warm heart. The only person Melvin talks to almost like a human being is the waitress at his local restaurant. And one day Melvin discovers to his surprise that he has fallen in love.
