Thailand is a country of celebrations and festivals.
* Ngarn Chang
“Oh Lord, give power to the hunter to touch the hearts of the elephants that they may come to me. Come here, come.” An ancient chant to the Elephant Spirit. Part of the prayers, offerings and traditional rites that precede the Ngarn Chang, or elephant spectacle. Traditionally a special show for visiting royalty since the 17th century, and now an annual event at Surin, this year, on November 17.
This action-packed Elephant Roundup, arranged by the Tourism Authority of Thailand, is the most spectacular extravaganza of the year. Hundreds of elephants are herded together to perform races, tugs of war, a soccer match. See elephants at work, at play and at war. Battle formations, victory parades and processions are recreated with the pomp and ceremony, the howdahs, lances, shields, swords and warriors of bygone days. Ride the streets of Surin on an elephant after the roundup. The locals set up a country fair and a display of folk dancing to welcome you.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand arranges the round-trip on a special overnight train to Surin that includes a visit to nearby Khmer ruins.
** Loi Kratong
Beautiful religious ceremonies, graceful entertainment, fun-filled fairs and Royal events. There’s a festive mood all year round in Thailand. November and December are the best months. The rice harvest has been gathered and it is time to give, to rejoice and to celebrate.
On the night of the full moon in November, offer thanks to the Water Spirits for the good and bountiful things that the waters have given. And for the sins you have committed. Every klong (canal), river and waterway all over the Kingdom becomes a magical, twinkling sea of lights. Kratongs, little boats gracefully shaped into lotus flowers of paper or leaves containing a candle and joss sticks are set alight and then launched out onto a moonlit water with a prayer, carrying the wishes of the sender. Loi Kratong is the loveliest night of the year.
Join millions of Thais of all ages in the Festival of the Water Spirits this November. Float your kratong on a klong in Bangkok, on the Ping River in Chiang Mai, or on any one of the myriad klongs throughout the country. Let the Kratong gently carry away your sins.

This print is more than 45 years old, so there will be signs of age. Some discoloration is commonplace and often there are small tears and signs of wear — little badges of authenticity.
There will be images and/or text on the back-side of your print. In some cases this may be slightly discernible through your print.
The brand-new A4 frame measures 22.7cm x 31.7cm x 1.0cm.
The print sits centered on an A4 sheet of Canson Iris Vival 185gsm card stock and is held in place using a single Goldbuch acid-free adhesive.
