We have bought the bed second hand a bit more than a year ago - the assembly takes time and should not be underestimated :) There are a couple of screws missing, and one part was glued to another (I can only assume it was because of the missing screws?) but we managed to assemble it (and it holds well, no wiggling), so I trust you can do so as well! Perhaps you could even get the replacement screws from Ikea, I just could not be bothered.
