This MacBook runs Lubuntu smoothly and is perfect as a low-power dedicated device since it's permanently tethered to a power outlet anyway. Great options include: a home server (file sharing, Pi-hole, media server), a dedicated 3D printer/CNC control station (OctoPrint etc.), a retro gaming or media centre box, a kiosk/info display, or a simple browsing/writing machine for a desk setup. Talented makers could probably come up with dozens of new uses for this!
It's still functional, so no reason it should become e-waste. Are you able to give it a new purpose in life?
