Offered for sale here is a framed original Vintage Rolex Perpetual Explorer II Watch magazine advertisement from 1996.
To prevent glare, the photograph was taken without the frame's perspex front cover. Consequently, the advertisement may appear slightly raised or uneven against the backing sheet in the image.
The text on the print reads:
To the ends of the earth and the top of the world.
Only two of us have made it.
On May 9th 1994, Erling Kagge conquered Everest and became the first man to achieve the impossible.
He'd made it to the North Pole with no outside help. He'd made it to the South Pole totally alone. And he'd climbed Everest at his first attempt.
He was accompanied on all three expeditions by one watch. His Rolex.
"The reason I've succeeded is not because I've been fitter than anyone else but because I've been very thorough with my preparations.
"I studied the equipment that the local inhabitants use.
"I looked at high tech and low tech. Then, eventually, by drawing on everyone's experience, I chose the equipment I knew I could trust."
So not surprisingly, Erling Kagge chose a Rolex Explorer II.
"I knew instinctively that it was the right watch," he says. "It's built to withstand almost anything. It's the only thing that's been on all the trips with me and it's never once let me down."
Strength and reliability are qualities that Erling Kagge values above all others.
"I never trust to luck," he says. "But the fact is, the better your equipment the luckier you get."
Maybe that's why he values his Rolex so highly.

The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Explorer II in stainless steel with matching Oyster bracelet.
This print is more than 30 years old, so there will be signs of age. Some discoloration is commonplace and often there are small tears and signs of wear — little badges of authenticity.
There will be images and/or text on the back-side of your print. In some cases this may be slightly discernible through your print.
The brand-new A4 frame measures 22.7cm x 31.7cm x 1.0cm.
The print sits centered on an A4 sheet of Canson Iris Vival 185gsm card stock and is held in place using a single Goldbuch acid-free adhesive.
I much prefer to post your item(s) using ToriDiili. It’s quick (next day postage), cheap (less than €5 for delivery of up to 10 items), safe (everything bubble-wrapped) and reliable (no appointments to keep). But if necessary, pickup from Jätkäsaari can be arranged between 5pm and 8pm.
