Up for sale is a rare and highly collectible Citizen-Shine tactile watch from the 80's, specially designed for the blind and visually impaired. As a private vintage watch collector, I am downsizing part of my collection.
This fascinating timepiece features a hinged acrylic crystal that opens up to allow the user to read the time by touching the reinforced, heavy-duty hands and the raised hour markers on the dial. The dial itself is in beautiful white condition with clear Breguet-style Arabic numerals. The case back still retains its original Citizen genuine holographic sticker.
Specifications:
Movement: Reliable Japanese Citizen Quartz (Caliber 3629).
Case Material: Stainless steel.
Operation: The front crystal pops open smoothly via the mechanism to allow direct tactile reading of the hands.
Dial: Original white dial with raised braille/tactile markers and bold Arabic numerals.
Crystal: Hinged acrylic crystal (shows significant vintage scratching/crazing, please see photos).
Strap: light brown leather strap with butterfly glock.
Condition: Running and working properly. The outer crystal is heavily scratched due to age and usage, but the dial and hands inside are beautifully preserved.
