In 2009, Venezuela donated six Mirage 50 aircraft to Ecuador to temporarily bolster the operational capacity of the Ecuadorian Air Force (FAE) following the retirement of its older systems.
These aircraft were also assigned to operate from Taura Air Base.
The entire Mirage fleet (both F1s and 50s) officially ceased operations in Ecuador in 2011, ending more than three decades of supersonic service by the French manufacturer in the country.
