The Ecuadorian Air Force's (FAE) 2113 Kfir Fighter Squadron operated the Israeli-made IAI Kfir supersonic fighter jets from Taura Air Base, notably for its historic participation in the Cenepa conflict in 1995.
Arrival in Ecuador: Acquired and incorporated into the FAE in 1982.
Cenepa Conflict (1995): It was part of the "Broncos" squadron, successfully intercepting and shooting down a Peruvian A-37B aircraft on February 10, 1995, with a Python 3 missile.
Modernization (1999–2001): The original C.2 models were upgraded and transformed to the Kfir C.E standard with advanced technological systems.
Retirement: They were withdrawn from service after more than two decades of defense and surveillance of Ecuadorian airspace.
