The Iwias or Arutams is an elite military group of the Ecuadorian army made up of indigenous people from the Ecuadorian Amazon, predominantly from the Shuar and Achuar communities. It is considered the most lethal elite group in the country, and its involvement in military conflicts has made it a key component in shaping the defense of the Ecuadorian Amazon region.
