Offered for sale here is a framed original Vintage Maitani Olympus OM2 Camera magazine advertisement from 1980.
To prevent glare, the photograph was taken without the frame's perspex front cover. Consequently, the advertisement may appear slightly raised or uneven against the backing sheet in the image.
The text on the print reads:
"I wanted to design a camera that takes photographs no other camera can"
Such was the challenge that Maitani, the celebrated Olympus camera designer, set for himself. If he had listened to conventional wisdom, he would have folded up his drawing board and gone home promptly at five. Instead, Maitani persisted. And created the Olympus OM-2. The fully automatic Olympus OM-2 is the only camera that measures the light during exposure. Because two sensors read the light that reflects off the film surface the instant the shutter opens. So the shutter may stay open for up to two minutes as the camera adjusts for changes in light and automatically closes at the precise moment perfect exposure has been achieved. No other camera can do it.
The OM-2 also embodies all that Olympus SLRs are justly famous for. It's a light, compact, rugged camera with a bright viewfinder and well-proportioned controls. And that's just the beginning. You can snap on a five-frame-per-second motor drive, or a winder, or a 1,000mm lens, or any of 300 plus components from the stellar Olympus OM system. This print is more than 40 years old, so there will be signs of age. Some discoloration is commonplace and often there are small tears and signs of wear — little badges of authenticity.
There will be images and/or text on the back-side of your print. In some cases this may be slightly discernible through your print.
The brand-new A4 frame measures 22.7cm x 31.7cm x 1.0cm.
The print sits centered on an A4 sheet of Canson Iris Vival 185gsm card stock and is held in place using a single Goldbuch acid-free adhesive.
I much prefer to post your item(s) using ToriDiili. It’s quick (next day postage), cheap (roughly €5 for delivery of up to 10 items), safe (everything bubble-wrapped) and reliable (no appointments to keep). But if necessary, pickup from Jätkäsaari can be arranged between 5pm and 8pm.
