"Basic" item but exceptionally beautiful, quality is high, have a look at the seamwork for example.
Sturdy high quality polycotton fabric
Deep rich rock grey with some visual texture
Compact cut but not slim
Nice hem and sleeve elastic keeps the shape together
Hood has fantastic shape and volume
Hood lacing is a bit special
Back is blank
Zipper pull with O-shape detail
Discrete NS logo on the chest, it is printed on in a good basic technique, nothing special or unusual going on there. NOT velour/embossed etc; meaning it won't start to look bad with time.
For me 180cm/85kg (I wear mens L tops, 34/32 jeans/chinos) compact fit, it is not tight but I'm maybe 1/2 sizes oversized for the item. So, item fits more like M+ than your standard EU L.

I have a professional garment steamer. All the items are steam-ironed and inspected. If there is any latent smell/odour on the item, it will be noticed when the item is steamed. If there is odour, the item is destroyed and never put for sale.
