Johnny 99 is the 69th studio album by American country singer Johnny Cash. It was released on August 29, 1983, by Columbia Records. The album features two covers of Bruce Springsteen songs (“Highway Patrolman” and “Johnny 99”) and includes “I’m Ragged but I’m Right,” a George Jones cover that became a minor hit, peaking at No. 75 on the Billboard Country Singles chart. Recorded in April 1983 at Magnolia Studio in Hollywood, it spans 35 minutes and 5 seconds of country and country rock music produced by Brian Ahern.
