Pieninä eläiminä nämä ylikuumenevat helposti, joten suunnitele kuljetusmatka tämän mukaisesti.
Surugekko on oikealle omistajalle helppo ja mielenkiintoinen lemmikki. Terraario kannattaa olla gekkojen ja omistajan vuoksi bioaktiivinen ja siitä voi taiteilla hyvinkin kauniin kasveilla.
Ruoka koostuu pienistä hyönteisistä ja harjasgekon jauheruuasta. Hyviä ruokahyönteisiä ovat mm. banaanikärpäset, pienet sirkat ja papupiilokkaat. Sekä hyönteisiä että jauheita kannattaa tarjoilla eri sortteja, sillä monimuotoisuus ruokavaliossa on heillekin terveellistä.
Vesikippo on hyvä olla vaikkeivat siitä joisivakaan. Gekot juovat yleensä enimmäkseen vesipisaroista, joten päivittäinen sumuttelu suihkepullolla tms on tärkeää.

Mourning geckos are easy and interesting pets for the right owner. The terrarium should be bioactive and you can get it looking really pretty with plants and the like.
Their diet consists of small insects and crested gecko food powder. Good feeder insects include banana flies, small crickets and bean weevils. It's good to offer different varieties of both insects and powdered foods, as diversity in the diet is healthy for them.
It is good to have a water bowl, even if they don't drink from it regularly. Geckos usually drink mostly from water droplets, so daily misting with a spray bottle or similar is important.
