- The book Algorithms of Informatics consists of two volumes: Volume 1 Foundations & Volume 2 Applications.
The second volume contains eleven chapters. These chapters are divided into three parts. The chapters of Part 4 are connected with computer networks: Distributed Algorithms
(written by Burkhard Englert, California State University; Dariusz Kowalski, University of Liverpool; Grzegorz Maľewicz, University of Alabama; Alexander Allister Shvartsman,
University of Connecticut; Network Simulation (Tibor Gyires, Ilinois State University), Parallel Ālgorithms ( Antal Iványi, Eötvös Loránd University; Claudia Leopold, University of Kassel), Systolic Systems (Eberhard Zehendner, Friedrich Schiller University).
Part 5 consists of the following chapters: Memory Management (Ádám Balog, Antal lványi, Eötvös Loránd University), Query in Relational Data Bases and Relational Databases
(János Demetrovics, Computer and Automation Research Institute; Attila Sali, Alfréd Rényi Institute of Mathematics), Semi-structured Data Bases (Attila Kiss, Eötvös Loránd
University). These chapters are devoted to algorithms of data bases.
The chapters of Part 6 have close connections with biology: Bioinformatics (lstván Miklós, Eötvõs Loránd University), Human-Computer Interactions (Iingo Althöfer, Stefan Schwarz Friedrich Schiller University) and Computer Graphics (László Szirmay-Kalos, Budapest University of Technology and Economics).
The chapters were validated by Dezső Sima (Budapest Polytechnical Institution), István Majzik, and Tamás Szántai (Budapest University of Technology and Economics), András
Benczúr, István Katsányi, Attila Kiss, László Varga, János Vida (Eötvös Loránd University), János Sztrik (University of Debrecen).
The second volume contains verbal description, pseudocode and analysis of over 110 algorithms, and also about 250 figures illustrating how the algorithms work. Each section ends with exercises and each chapter ends with problems. We have included about 190 exercises and over 40 research problems.
We have supplied an extensive bibliography, in the section Chapter notes of each chapter.
The web site of the book contains the maintained PDF version of the bibliography in which the names of the authors, journals and publishers are usually active links to the corresponding web site (the living elements of the printed bibliography are underlined).
