Here's a great cyclocross bike from the British brand Planet X. Aluminum frame and carbon fiber fork. Very light and responsive, it has an almost carbon feel to it. With that, a set of Mason Hunt 4 season wheels mounted on 700x40 tires (a bit too wide for the clearance, frankly) in all tubelessness. I'm giving studded tires that haven't been used much with it.
I bought it second and from someone who's used it a lot, and I've used it a lot too. Both of us have taken care of it though. Bottom bracket was changed last summer, along with the chain (waxed), brake pads, shifting cable and housing, and I've serviced the brake fluid. I've also changed the pulley wheels for cartridge bearing ones. Bearings have been changed on both wheel hubs recently.
So you get a well maintained bike, that has seen some use (meaning there's a bunch of scratches and chips), and that's still up for years of use.
The thing is I have the bad habit of buying too large frames and now my back doesn't take it anymore...
