Colosseum – Colosseum LiveThe American promotional pressing of Colosseum Live with catalog number PRO 500 was issued in 1971 by Bronze Records in cooperation with Warner Bros. Records. This version was produced primarily for radio stations, record reviewers, and promotional distribution in the United States.Because promotional LPs were pressed in limited quantities, they are often considered rare collector editions, particularly when they retain original promo labels, stamps, or promotional sleeves.Colosseum was one of the pioneering groups in the jazz-rock and progressive rock movement of the late 1960s and early 1970s.The band was founded by drummer Jon Hiseman and featured a mixture of rock energy with jazz improvisation, blues influences, and complex musical arrangements.Released in 1971, Colosseum Live is widely regarded as one of the greatest live recordings of the early progressive and jazz-rock era.The album was recorded during concerts in Manchester University and the Big Apple Club in Brighton.
