Lech Majewski (s. 1947) – "My, Żydzi Polscy..." (Me, Puolan juutalaiset...) | Valtion juutalainen teatteri | Harvinaista Judaicaa
Item Description:
I am proud to present a highly sought-after, deeply moving poster from the contemporary Polish School of Posters. This is not merely a theater advertisement; it is a visual monument and a rare piece of Holocaust Remembrance Art.
ITEM SPECIFICATIONS:
Artist: Lech Majewski (Professor at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, icon of the Polish School of Posters)
Title: "My, Żydzi Polscy... / We, Polish Jews..."
Institution: State Jewish Theater (Państwowy Teatr Żydowski) in Warsaw, Poland
Technique: Original Offset Lithography on premium poster paper
Dimensions: 68 × 98 cm (26.7 x 38.5 inches / Classic Polish B1 format)
Condition: Good (B+). The central graphic motif is fully intact, vibrant, and striking. There are minor, natural edge creases and a slight moisture stain on the bottom left margin (clearly visible in the detailed macro photos). These minor imperfections will easily be concealed once the poster is professionally framed or placed behind a passe-partout.
PROVENANCE & ARTISTIC VALUE:
This minimalist masterpiece was commissioned for a performance based on the harrowing and historically monumental texts of Julian Tuwim and Yitzhak Katzenelson. Lech Majewski employs a devastating visual metaphor: a blurred, ash-like head bowing in sorrow over a line of black dots, symbolizing bullet holes or the profound ellipsis of historical silence.
Works by Lech Majewski are held in major contemporary graphic art collections worldwide. Posters dealing with such fundamental cultural and historical weight—especially genuine Judaica related to the State Jewish Theater in Warsaw—are incredibly rare on the secondary market and consistently appreciate in value.
SHIPPING & SECURITY:
The poster will be carefully secured with acid-free archival paper and shipped in a heavy-duty, crush-proof tube. Fully insured shipping with a courier tracking number worldwide.
Don't miss the opportunity to add this museum-quality piece of Jewish history and world-class graphic design to your collection. Place your bid now!
