The Klark Teknik Square ONE Splitter (SQ1S) is a professional-grade, 8-channel active microphone splitter designed for live sound reinforcement, broadcast, and recording applications. Housed in a rugged 2U rackmount chassis, the unit is engineered to provide high-performance signal distribution while maintaining signal integrity and minimizing noise.
The core of the SQ1S architecture features premium microphone preamplifiers inspired by the Midas XL8 Live Performance System. Each of the eight channels includes two parallel inputs (front and rear) and two independent preamps: one providing adjustable gain (0 dB to +40 dB in 5 dB steps) for the two electronically balanced outputs, and a second providing fixed gain for the transformer-isolated output. The electronically balanced outputs boast a dynamic range of > 122 dB, while the transformer-isolated outputs achieve a dynamic range of > 140 dB.
Key technical features include:
- Media Split Mode: A specialized function that allows the signal from input 8 to be distributed to all 16 electronically balanced rear-panel outputs, ideal for press feeds.
- Filtering and Monitoring: Each channel is equipped with a 30 Hz high-pass filter and a 4-segment LED meter (indicating levels at -15 dB, 0 dB, +12 dB, and +21 dB).
- Phantom Power: The unit supports +48V phantom power, which is individually switchable per channel and features remote sensing, allowing phantom power to be supplied from an attached console.
- Connectivity: The device utilizes Neutrik XLR connectors throughout. It includes a solo bus with an integrated headphone amplifier and level control for signal monitoring.
- Grounding: To address potential ground loops, the unit provides separate earth lift switches for each set of electronically balanced outputs.
