Toinen on mallia IC8-R (alkuperäinen "legacy" malli) ja toinen mallia IC8-RN-WT (edellistä uudempi säänkestävä malli).

The Renkus-Heinz IC8-R represents the second generation of the Iconyx series. It features eight 4-inch coaxial transducers, with each transducer utilizing a dual-tweeter high-frequency array. This dual-tweeter design was a major milestone for its time, successfully reducing the physical distance between high-frequency (HF) sources to improve high-frequency performance and maintain a consistent, broad horizontal dispersion of up to 150 degrees.
In contrast, the Renkus-Heinz IC8-RN-WT is built upon the fifth-generation (Gen5) Iconyx platform. The "RN" designation indicates the integration of the upgraded RHAON II (Renkus-Heinz Audio Operations Network) control system, while the "WT" suffix denotes the Weather-Resistant (Weather-Tight) configuration. Acoustically, the IC8-RN-WT upgrades the driver configuration to eight 4-inch coaxial transducers, each paired with a triple-tweeter high-frequency array. This "array within an array" design further minimizes the acoustic distance between HF sources, resulting in significantly smoother high-frequency response, reduced comb filtering, and superior beam control at the upper limits of the audio spectrum.
Both systems utilize individual DSP and amplifier channels for each of the eight coaxial drivers, allowing sound designers to shape and aim acoustic beams without physically tilting the cabinet. However, the processing power and algorithms have advanced significantly between generations.
Both columns can generate up to four steerable beams simultaneously from a single enclosure. This allows a single speaker to cover multiple distinct audience areas, such as a flat floor area and an elevated balcony.
Because all transducers are identical and equidistant, both models allow the acoustic center of the array to be electronically raised or lowered.
The fifth-generation IC8-RN-WT achieves effective beam control down to 800 Hz. Controlling lower mid-range frequencies is critical in highly reverberant spaces, as this is where vocal muddying typically occurs.
Both systems utilize high-current, audiophile-quality Class D multichannel amplifiers to ensure that digital steering does not compromise sonic fidelity.
